Confirmed by the league to 13 September. Two clubs go up, one goes down.

Saturday’s results are in the table and the league has not ratified them. Two rows remain open.
  1. Trinity Rovers 3–1 Ockbourne Athletic is under protest. Ockbourne say Rovers fielded a player still registered elsewhere. The league committee sits on 24 September and holds the three points until it does, so Rovers take no position this week.
  2. Whitcombe Athletic & Old Boys Association carry a three-point deduction for an ineligible player on 16 August. The deduction leaves their goal difference alone.

New players

How to join

Turn up to Thursday training at Meadow Lane at 7pm and play. The club turns nobody away and asks nobody for money on a first night. Bring boots and shin pads; the club has spare bibs and balls.

Subs are £5 a match and £40 for the season, and the club covers them for anyone who asks. Registration with the league takes about a week, so a player who trains in September is available by the end of the month.

Who plays where

The Saturday first team sits fourth in Division Two. The Saturday reserves play in Division Five and give most new players their first games. The veterans’ eleven is over thirty-fives and plays Sunday mornings.

Sam Odita, the club secretary, answers within a couple of days.

Which sides interest you

Pick as many as you like, or none and just come along on Thursday.

Design notes

Bootstrap, themed rather than overridden

Shape of the page
A document. One column, read top to bottom, with no app frame and no side rail.
What it leads with
The league table. It takes the full width and the writing sits either side of it.
Spacing
Bootstrap's own defaults, with the buttons drawn a little shorter so they sit better in a page of reading.
The one bold decision
Nothing on this page fights Bootstrap. The claret, the square-ish corners, the two typefaces and the ruled twelve-club table are all set through the settings Bootstrap already publishes for exactly that purpose, so an upgrade cannot undo them.
Where the colour comes from
One claret, chosen for the club, and every other value derived from Bootstrap's own published set. The dark theme restates the whole brand palette rather than inheriting half of it, which is what Bootstrap's own dark mode does and why the stock version keeps its blue.
Readability, measured
White on the claret button measures 10.21:1, where Bootstrap's own blue measures 4.50:1, right on the floor. Body text on the paper ground measures 15.53:1 light and 14.88:1 dark.
The edge of a control
3.60:1 light and 3.38:1 dark, clearing the floor of 3 that a control edge needs. Bootstrap ships a line at 1.30:1, which most readers cannot see at all.
What we changed
Bootstrap draws a blue ring around a text field while somebody is typing in it, and that blue is written into the framework where no setting reaches. The page puts a claret ring outside it using Bootstrap's own tool for the job. The other stock blue, on a checkbox, is gone because the side picker uses a control with a larger, easier target.
A note on the palette
A club colour nobody has measured before cannot be generated, so the claret and its 26 shades are declared once each, by name, and everything on the page reads them from there. No colour is written twice.
